YALE TRUMPET STUDENT TO HONOR CVSM FOUNDING TEACHER GLORIA MCCAULEY

Cumberland Valley School of Music presents the 27th Annual Gala Showcase Concert, Sunday, October 30, 2:00pm at Thomson Alumnae Chapel on the Wilson College Campus in Chambersburg. Andrew Stadler, CVSM alum and current graduate student at Yale University, is a featured performer and joins the school in honoring his former trumpet instructor, Gloria McCauley. The concert will also feature present and former faculty members, students, alumni, and members of the community. The program offers classical, Dixieland, opera, Broadway and popular music.

CVSM Celebrates Music at Old Market Day

Participants from CVSM summer camps plan two free performances

Cumberland Valley School of Music summer camp attendees will present two free performances during the Chambersburg Old Market Day festivities planned for Saturday, July 16.

Chambersburg YMCA Sam’s Camp children will sing and dance for their audience in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 225 S. Second St., at 10 a.m. According to Diane Miller, a CVSM staff member who directs the camp and provides Zumba dance instruction, the selections are songs that “encourage positive messages to the kids” and promote awareness of music from several countries.

samsShe will be working with Erin C. Smith, the musical director, accompanist Justin Streletz, and Zachary Rotz, who will teach art during the camp to approximately 60 children.

CHAMBERSBURG–Everyone is invited to a free Memorial Day Concert at the Chambersburg Memorial Park Band Shell being offered by the Cumberland Valley School of Music. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the concert will highlight tunes that reflect our country’s founding and patriotic fervor.

Chefs Walk 2016 Serves Up Exciting New Menus and Music
Food and Drink, Live Music, Dancers, and more!

CHAMBERSBURG, PA (April 21, 2016) – Cumberland Valley School of Music (CVSM) presents the 8th Annual Neighborhood Chefs Walk, a celebration of food and drink, music, and community, taking place on June 4, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Chefs Walk is a food and music crawl with local chefs, beer and wine tastings, a silent auction, and over 50 local musicians performing along Alexander Avenue in Chambersburg, PA.

“The Chefs Walk is a fabulous way to start the summer,” said Paula Hepfer, Executive Director of CVSM.  “The atmosphere is electric and relaxed at the same time.  It is truly enjoyable for people of all ages!”

Cumberland Valley School of Music Students given Scholarships are presenting a free Concert on Sunday, April 24 in Chambersburg

Merit Recipient 2016

CHAMBERSBURG–Cumberland Valley School of Music plans to hold its annual Recognition Concert on Sunday, April 24 to feature the student recipients of the Merit Award Scholarship, the Henry and Janet Guarriello Scholarship, and graduating seniors who plan to major or minor in a performance art.

Free and open to the public, the concert will take place at the Thomson Alumnae Chapel on the Wilson College Campus, 1015 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg. Each student will have a performance slot during the 3 p.m. concert.

According to Paula Hepfer, CVSM executive director, the Merit Awards Scholarship process was formed during the earliest years of the 26-year-old school’s existence. She recently commented about the merit audition process.

CVSM Cumberbunds Children’s Chorus Presents Free Concert Thursday, April 28

CHAMBERSBURG – Cumberbunds Children’s Choir members are fine tuning a variety of selections for a Spring Concert at the Wilson College Thomson Alumnae Chapel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Cumberland Valley School of Music features the children’s group as one of its offerings each semester.

Under the direction of Jeffrey Noll, choir director and CVSM instructor, the Cumberbunds concert will be free and open to the public. Noll said that the concert is the culmination of the spring semester for the 21-member “treble voice” choir that includes ages 4th through 8th grade.
