This class explores music in a warm, low-key atmosphere, encouraging families to make music a part of everyday life, setting in motion a life-long love of and participation in music. The activities in this class will satisfy the fun-loving and challenge-ready natures of 5–7 year olds, completing the child’s journey to basic music competence and laying the foundations for basic music literacy. Activities will include game songs, movement, solo and ensemble experiences, conducting, improvisation, and music-reading readiness. The parent or caregiver participates with the child in the entire first and last class, and the last 10 minutes of other classes, and is welcome to join in the entirety of every class.

Theatre Explorers 1 (5-8 years)

Adventures in Piano Composing (Ages 7-11)

Our CVSM Children’s Choir will soon be getting a new name and a fresh new look. Children will enjoy an appealing, diverse musical repertoire, and there will be several performance opportunities to showcase their abilities. We will still be working with children to develop solid, healthy vocal techniques such as breathing, diction, posture, expression and part singing. In this 4-session workshop, you will learn to identify and develop your voiceover toolbox through identifying a script’s purpose, voice and tone. Students will work at the mic at every class and explore narration, commercials, and animation. No experience necessary!

Intro. to Acting (14 years and older)

This 8-week class will teach students basic acting techniques and script analysis. In the first half of the class, students will explore acting techniques by Meisner, Chekhov, and Stanislavsky. Audition Workshop (14 years and older)

Booking a role is more than just reading words on a page. This 4-hour workshop will give beginning actors the keys they need to successfully audition. This intensive program will teach students how to present themselves in the audition room, how to perform cold reads successfully, how to prepare a monologue, and how to manage expectations when auditioning. Through a partnership with Wilson College, mature singers are invited to join the Wilson Choir, which functions as a chapel and concert group performing at various Wilson functions.
