PLAYFUL MUSICIANS

Musikgarten® On a Trip (newborn – 3 years w/caregiver present)

These classes are the first step toward bonding musically with your child. Activities include bouncing & rocking songs, finger plays, body awareness games, singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing instruments. All of these activities stimulate the brain, foster physical development, and cultivate listening skills.

Wiggles & Giggles (newborn – 3 years w/caregiver present)

Wiggles & Giggles aims to help babies and toddlers experience the fun and magic of music and movement through our own special twist on the traditional Musikgarten curriculum. In this class, we will sing, bounce, rock, dance, and play instruments together, laying the foundation necessary for success in music and aiding the child’s social, emotional, mental, and physical development along the way.  Using music ranging from Mozart to modern, adults and children alike will enjoy an atmosphere of fun and excitement as we build these skills. Little Maestros (ages 3-5)

In Little Maestros, children will continue to develop socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically through music and movement while discovering the sensory world around them.  This class builds upon the activities that they enjoyed as toddlers (singing, dancing, playing instruments), and adds the excitement of tonal instruments, sensory activities, pattern reading, imaginative play, storytelling, crafts, and more…all through the magic of music! Musikgarten® World Music 1 (ages 3.5-5)

Children at this age are growing physically and intellectually at a rapid pace! This class capitalizes on this development and provides musical activities to help children sing more tunefully, move with expressivity to various styles of music, and read, write, and play rhythmic patterns on various instruments.

Musikgarten® Music Makers at the Keyboard (ages 5-7)

Music Makers at the Keyboard lays the groundwork for keyboard success. The activities foster pride and excitement in making music both independently and with others. In addition to playing the piano, students will participate in dancing and drumming, singing, echoing patterns, composing and musical dictation.

CVSM Children’s Choir (grades 4-8, unchanged voices)

Do you have a child in your house that loves to sing? This ensemble brings children together for the joyful exploration and celebration of singing! We work with children to develop solid, healthy vocal techniques such as breathing, diction, posture, expression and part singing. They will enjoy singing an appealing, diverse musical repertoire.

Beginner Guitar class (ages 12 and under)

The perfect class for beginning level players. Instruction will include tuning, melody playing, chords, rhythms, strumming, and ensemble playing. Students must provide their own guitar, acoustic preferred. Choose one session or join in both!

Join us as we present the timeless story that captures the essential human longings for love, community, success, freedom, family, and meaning. All students registered will be in the show; auditions are for part placement only. Registration prior to audition required. Performance dates will be March 3 and 4. Would you love to improvise on the fly or get better at creating your own riffs? This interactive group class is the chance to learn the FUNdamentals of soloing over minor, major, and blues chord changes. Students must at least be familiar with the major, minor and pentatonic scales. Open to all instruments.

A strings group designed to focus on a mastery of ensemble repertoire, improve ensemble listening skills and develop the ability to perform four-part harmonies and rhythm conversation between sections. This ensemble is for intermediate level string players. A combined concert with the CVSM String Orchestra will be on Tues., Nov. 15 at 8 PM.

Voice Over Class (ages 14+)

In this 4 session workshop, you will learn to identify and develop your voiceover toolbox through identifying a script’s purpose, voice and tone. Students will work at the mic at every class and explore narration, commercials, and animation. No experience necessary!

Learn and explore acting techniques by Meisner, Chekhov, and Stanislavsky.  Put these techniques into practice as you perform scenes and develop smart, truthful choices for your characters.  A great course for beginners and veterans alike to become more honest, imaginative, responsive, and alive in a scene. Through a partnership with Wilson College, mature singers are invited to join the Wilson Choir, which functions as a chapel and concert group performing at various Wilson functions. Come as you are, and learn to appreciate the instrument you already own, no matter whether you are a beginner or veteran vocalist.

WORKSHOPS

Dynamic & Healthy Singing Workshop (all ages)

Learn how to understand how YOUR body works so your singing is as beautiful, exciting, and healthy as YOUR potential. This workshop will cover a wide variety of topics for healthy and beautiful singing such as why correct breathing is important, why the need to shape for resonance, what is technique, why the need for warm-ups, and singing a variety of musical styles healthily. This workshop is a great opportunity for new singers and also helpful for worship singers or song leaders as a refresher. When you sing using a good understanding of HOW to use your body, your singing becomes more satisfying and FUN!
