Ages 0-5
Musikgarten® My Musical World (newborn – 3 years, caregiver present)
These classes are the first step toward bonding musically with your child and provide a relaxed environment for families to come together and experience music. Activities include bouncing & rocking songs, finger plays, body awareness games, singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing instruments. A sibling who is age 4-5 is welcome to attend class as well. Please see online registration for sibling rate option.

Little Maestros Discovery Camp (3-5 years)
Discover the magic of music with us through song and dance, games and instruments, stories, crafts, and conducting musical science experiments with your preschooler!

Pee Wee Picassos (4-6 years)
Using visual art mediums like paint, drawing, clay sculpting and recyclable, our Pee Wee Picassos will experience their own process driven journey of discovery to create mini masterpieces and build confidence. Each day we introduce a new art concept while engaging our little artists in discussions designed to increase their understanding of each tool and material used. The camp ends with each camper displaying some of their masterpieces in a mini art exhibition open to parents and family members.

Musical Seashore (4-6 years)
This exciting camp will have children celebrating summer through singing, dancing, activities, and crafts (indoor and outdoor). Laughter and learning will be so intermingled it will be difficult to tell the difference. A light snack will be provided each day. Families are invited to participate for the final 15 minutes each day.

Exploring Musicians
Ages 5-12
Vocal Explorers Camp (5-8 years)
Explore all your voice can do while singing songs, playing games, and other fun activities! In this camp young singers will learn vocal technique and different musical theory concepts that every vocalist needs to know. A performance will be held for friends and family on the final day.

Piano Sampler (7-11 years)
Is your child interested in piano and you would like to “try it” before registering for lessons? This camp introduces the basics of playing piano in a supportive group environment.

Voice & Drama, Jr. featuring scenes and songs from “The Lion King” (entering grades 1-3)
Participants in this week-long camp will have fun as they sing, dance, and act in a creative mini-musical. The camp will end with a performance as part of Old Market Day in downtown Chambersburg along with the Voice & Drama campers.

Artistic Adventurers (7-10 years)
Through daily creative projects, our Artistic Adventurers will develop their skills in using a variety of different art mediums including paint, drawing materials, fabric, clay, recyclable or found objects. Each day will introduce a new element of art history to help deepen the camper’s knowledge and appreciation for art and discover new ways to express their creativity. The camp ends with each camper displaying some of their masterpieces in a mini art exhibition open to parents and family members.

Adventures in Composing (8-11 years)
Help Muttzart (the dog) and Ratmaninoff (the cat) rescue their owner’s composition! Participants will learn various techniques to create their own songs at the piano. Students must be able to read treble and bass clef notes and play with both hands in C position.

The perfect class for beginning level players. Instruction will include tuning, melody playing, chords, rhythms, strumming, and ensemble playing. Students must provide their own guitar, acoustic preferred. (CVSM has some guitars for short term rental. Please inquire in the store about this. Pricing does not include rental fees.)

As part of this unique performance experience, each camper will have the opportunity to be featured in a dance number, a dramatic scene (based on the play), or a vocal solo, duet or small ensemble. Everyone participates, no waiting in the wings while the “lead” characters rehearse and perform. Each camper receives 2 individualized voice lessons during the week. The camp will end with a performance as part of Old Market Day in downtown Chambersburg.

Come and learn the science of music! Have you ever wondered how musical instruments are designed and built? In this “make-and-take” workshop you will build your own kalimba while exploring the different types of standing waves and how each is used to produce the music that we play. Deadline to register is June 7.

Explore how Rock music is made with the multiple types of effect pedals, amplifiers, drop tuning and playing styles. Dive into several popular rock songs, riffs, power chords, and bar chords. Sharpen or develop soloing skills. Learn practical guitar maintenance including restringing, set up, and polishing. Come ready to Rock!

Discover various worship groups and popular songs they have created. Learn about how hymns compare to contemporary worship songs, and see how these songs can fit into modern worship. Learn how to lead worship, create a worship song set list, and how to add different types of vocal accompaniment. Incorporate non-traditional instruments into your worship band and discover how they can add different dynamics to your worship experience. During our last two classes we will have a group worship time to apply some of the new things we have learned. Come with an open heart and feel free to share your experiences!!

Achieving Musicians
Ages 12- Adult
Singing for the Stage (12 and older)
In this masterclass, we will explore the freedom of truthful storytelling on stage through song! Join us to discover ways to find a sense of “play” in your performances and explore your songs in a supportive group environment where everyone will have a chance to work one-on-one with our experienced instructor. On the final Saturday, family and friends can attend a showcase performance of what is worked on. Topics to be covered include important questions to ask yourself when working on new material, ways to relieve tension in the body, understanding the connection between the accompaniment and the vocal line, among others. Students will need to prepare a song to perform and explore in class- something you love to sing- and provide recorded accompaniment for it. CVSM Symphonic Band & Choir (all ages)
The band performs level III and IV pieces twice a year with several rehearsals to prepare. It is perfect for musicians looking for a limited time commitment.
