Musikgarten® Twist and Turn (newborn – 3 years, caregiver present)

These classes are the first step toward bonding musically with your child. Activities include bouncing & rocking songs, finger plays, body awareness games, singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing instruments. All of these activities stimulate the brain, foster physical development, and cultivate listening skills. These classes provide a relaxed environment for families to come together and experience music. Musikgarten is a leader in early childhood music education, offering a multi-year program that helps infants, toddlers, and children develop a deep love of music and the ability to express it.

Experience music and movement activities designed to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music by singing, dancing, bouncing, rocking, and playing instruments together in a fun, relaxed environment.

Nature’s Music (0-5 years, caregiver present)

Come explore the Crawlers and Creepers, Jumpers and Hoppers, Buzzers and Singers, Swimmers and Leapers, and the Music Makers this summer as we focus on the rhythm and music of nature! This class offers a wonderful collection of songs and dances for young children that are great fun for the whole family!

Each day we introduce a new art concept while engaging our little artists in discussions designed to increase their understanding of each tool and material used. The camp ends with each camper displaying some of their masterpieces in a mini art exhibition open to parents and family members.

Vocal Explorers Camp (5-8 yrs.)

Explore all your voice can do while singing songs, playing games, and other fun activities! In this camp young singers will learn vocal technique and different musical theory concepts that every vocalist needs to know. A performance will be held for friends and family on the final day.

Artistic Adventurers (7-10 years)

Through daily creative projects, our Artistic Adventurers will develop their skills in using a variety of different art mediums such as paint, drawing materials, fabric, clay, recyclable or found objects. Each day will introduce a new element of art history to help deepen the camper’s knowledge and appreciation for art and discover new ways to express their creativity. The camp ends with each camper displaying some of their masterpieces in a mini art exhibition open to parents and family members.

Voice & Drama, Jr. featuring scenes and songs from “The Music Man” (5-8 years)

Participants in this week-long camp will have fun as they sing, dance, and act in a creative mini-musical. The camp will end with a performance as part of Old Market Day in downtown Chambersburg.

Adventures in Composing (8-11 years)

Help Muttzart (the dog) and Ratmaninoff (the cat) rescue their owner’s composition! Participants will learn various techniques to create their own songs at the piano. Students must be able to read treble and bass clef notes and play with both hands in C position.

Voice & Drama featuring scenes and songs from “The Music Man” (9-14 years)

Join us as we put on a mini-musical! Each camper will have the opportunity to be featured in a dance number, a dramatic scene (based on the play), or a vocal solo, duet or small ensemble. Everyone participates, no waiting in the wings while the “lead” characters rehearse and perform. Each camper receives 2 individualized voice lessons during the week. All campers will: • gain a better ability to sing and project the voice (both sung and spoken), as well as improve clarity, diction and articulation • sing in harmony with other singers • develop comfort and poise in front of an audience while improving posture and increasing confidence • understand that practice is required to become “good” at a task • experience the excitement of a performance and the joy of having music, movement, and a captivating story etched in memory. The camp will end with a performance as part of Old Market Day in downtown Chambersburg.

Collaborate and ROCK out with other musicians! As a band you will pick 2-3 songs to learn with the guidance of our experienced instructor. The week will conclude with a performance for your family and friends. If you’d like to hone your abilities or just want to experience what it would be like to be in a band, then this is the camp for you!

Studio Sessions at Alley Cat Studios

Come and learn about the audio engineering process with family and/or friends while recording your music in a professional setting with recording engineer and co-owner, Mat Levine. Your all-day session would be centered around the process, equipment, software, and skills needed and utilized by both the artist and the engineer during a recording studio session. The cost can be split among all participants that attend together.

Dates to choose from: June 6,7, 21, 22, 28, 29; July 11, 12, 13, 19, 20; August 2, 3, 8, 9

Time: 9 AM-5 PM • 30-minute lunch from 12:00-12:30
