Early Childhood

Musikgarten® Clap with Me! (newborn – 3 years w/caregiver present)

These classes are the first step toward bonding musically with your child. Activities include bouncing & rocking songs, finger plays, body awareness games, singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing instruments. All of these activities stimulate the brain, foster physical development, and cultivate listening skills.

Musikgarten® Meadow (3.5-5 years)

Children at this age are growing physically and intellectually at a rapid pace! This class capitalizes on this development and provides musical activities to help children sing more tunefully, move with expressivity to various styles of music, and read, write, and play rhythmic patterns on various instruments.

Elementary and Middle

Vocal Explorers (5-8 years)

Explore all that your voice can do through song & vocal exploration.  This class will teach vocal technique for the young singer through songs and music theory using solfege. This class culminates in a performance at the CVSM Recital on May 19th.

Theatre Explorers 1 (K-3rd grade)

Use your creativity, imaginations, and sense of fun to explore the world of theatre! Students will use collaborative activities to learn basic theatrical techniques and prepare for a showcase performance on the final day of class.

Theatre Explorers 2 (4th-8th grade)

This class is designed to teach kids the basics of acting and improv through the use of theatre games.  Students are encouraged to use their imaginations as they learn to build stories, create characters, practice teamwork, and gain self-confidence. A showcase will be performed by students on the final day of class.

Children’s Choir (grades 4-8 unchanged voices)

Do you have a child in your house that loves to sing? This ensemble brings children together for the joyful exploration and celebration of singing! We work with children to develop solid, healthy vocal techniques such as breathing, diction, posture, expression and part singing, and they will enjoy an appealing, diverse musical repertoire.

Beginner Guitar class (12 and under)

The perfect class for beginning level players. Instruction will include tuning, melody playing, chords, rhythms, strumming, and ensemble playing. Students must provide their own guitar, acoustic preferred. Choose one or both sessions during the semester.

Fiddle Sticks (10-14  years)

Learn to play in a string ensemble or enhance your playing. This ensemble is for beginner and intermediate level string players who can read music and have at least one year’s experience. A combined concert with the CVSM String Orchestra will be on March 29 at 7:00 PM.

Pop/Rock Singing (10 and up)

This 4-session course is designed for anyone wishing to achieve a good quality pop/rock sound and learn how to best practice repertoire for auditions, recording, performance or just for fun! Students will work off their favorite pre-recorded songs in this supportive small group environment.

Rock/Jazz Improvisation (10 and up)

Would you love to improvise on the fly or get better at creating your own riffs? This interactive group class is the chance to learn the FUNdamentals of soloing over minor, major, and blues chord changes. Students must at least be familiar with the major, minor and pentatonic scales. Open to all instruments.

Guitar class – Intermediate (13 and older)

This class is a continuation of the Beginning Guitar class. Students will learn barre chords, tablature, common riffs, and popular songs. Students must provide their own guitar, acoustic preferred. Choose one or both sessions during the semester.

Intro. to Acting (13 and older)

This 8 week class will teach students basic acting techniques and script analysis.  In the first half of this class, students will explore acting techniques by Meisner, Chekhov, and Stanislavsky.  The second half of the class will put these techniques into practice as students perform scenes.  No Experience Necessary.

Acting 2 (13 and older)

This class focuses on scene study and script analysis. Students will learn how to analyze a scene and incorporate their findings into their own performance. This class will help the actor become more honest, imaginative, responsive, and alive in a scene.

Voice Over Class (13 and older)

In this 4 session workshop, you will learn to identify and develop your voiceover toolbox through identifying a script’s purpose, voice and tone. Students will work at the mic at every class and explore narration, commercials, and animation. No experience necessary!

CVSM String Orchestra (all ages)

We invite string players of all ages to join us in our passion to create great music! This ensemble is open to violin, viola, cello, and string bass performers who are comfortable playing in 3rd position (1st violin to 5th). Concert will be on March 29.

The band performs level III and IV pieces twice a year with several rehearsals to prepare. It is perfect for musicians looking for a limited time commitment. Memorial Day Concert on 5/30 at 7:30 PM.
